Between emotions, obstacles and wonderful effort, the Rome-Naples-Rome is still alive!
Per festeggiare i 150 anni della breccia di Porta Pia, abbiamo “corso” quest’anno la rievocazione della mitica gara ciclistica XX Settembre, a lei dedicata e conosciuta anche come Roma Napoli Roma per il suo sviluppo. Corsa dal 1902 al 1934 vide primeggiare i più grandi campioni e le migliori squadre italiane del periodo. Due giornate intense su mezzi anni ’20, con l’andata nell’entroterra sulla Casilina, e il ritorno lungo il mare concludendo a Roma sull’Appia antica.

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Porta Pia breach, this year we “ran” the re-enactment of the legendary cycling race XX Settembre, dedicated to her and also known as Rome Naples Rome for its development. Racing from 1902 to 1934 saw the greatest champions and the best Italian teams of the period excel. Two intense days on half the 1920s, with the outward journey inland on the Casilina, and the return along the sea ending in Rome on the Appia Antica. I had the honor of using an extraordinary and rare 1921 Legnano, which flew on the undulating roads of Lazio and Campania like the identical bike of Brunero when he won the Giro in the same year. An infinite thanks to dear friend “Lele” Bocchi who entrusted it to me once again. A journey of over 500 km shared with great travel companions, among whom Francesca still amazed with strength and determination.
